andWhere do I pick up my flowers?
We offer free pick-up at our Charles Village walk-in cooler and $75 delivery to Baltimore City locations. We can also offer DC/NOVA/Frederick delivery Tuesdays and Thursdays, inquire if interested.

When should I plan to pick up my flowers?
We generally recommend picking up your flowers 1-2 days before the event depending on how much time you want to allow for designing. Our flowers typically last 5-7 days easily, with some lasting much longer, but we want you to get them at their peak bloom time.   Pick up time is very flexible because we have a self-serve walk-in cooler.

How do I store my flowers before my event? 
Flowers store best in a cool, dark place. You do not need a walk-in fridge, just don't leave them in a hot car with the windows rolled up! Make sure they have plenty of water in the bucket or vase, and we recommend waiting to do any out-of-water arrangements until the morning of (such as flower crowns, corsages, etc.). Alternatively if you need to make them one day before, we recommend putting them in a ziploc or plastic clamshell with a wet paper towel to create a humidity chamber.

What kind of vehicle do I need to pick up my flowers?
Depending on the car, you can typically fit about 6 buckets in the back seat and on the floor behind the front seats. If you are getting more buckets than that we recommend an SUV, van, or station wagon since the trunk of a sedan is usually too short to fit flower stems. We are conveniently located in the City so you can always make a couple trips if needed or bring multiple vehicles.

What should I do with all these buckets after my event?
If you're able to drop them back at our cooler or on our front porch (2736 Guilford Ave.) we will happily re-use your buckets. 

What if I need to cancel or add more flowers?
We do not offer refunds on event florals. If you'd like to order additional buckets, you can place another order on our website and just make a note that it's an addition to an existing order. We prefer to know about additions 2 weeks ahead but can often accommodate last-minute requests so it never hurts to ask.

Can you help us arrange the flowers?
We have some talented designers on our team and we have facilitated DIY flower parties for other customers. If this is something you're interested in, please contact us to inquire. If you would like to order a la carte personal flowers to supplement your bulk buckets from Hillen Homestead, we can highly recommend these florists that offer a la carte options and use local flowers:

Can I request specific colors or flowers?
When you place your order you can specify bright/vibrant colors or softer tones. You can also use the Notes field to tell us about colors/flowers you especially love or hate and we'll do our best to accommodate if possible.
