We grow for our local community:
neighbors, florists, friends, brides, and grooms.
How We Grow
We are proud of our sustainable growing methods, including no-till production, no synthetic fertilizers/pesticides, and locally sourced compost for fertility. Hillen Homestead gives bouquets to neighbors and shares seeds, compost, and plants with nearby gardeners. We are passionate about putting vacant land into production and growing in Baltimore City.
How It Started
In 2012 my friend Ben Meyers adopted a vacant lot near where he grew up. He named it Hillen Homestead and planted four blueberry bushes that promptly walked off. I was itching to grow some flowers, so we teamed up. Then, in January 2013, Ben passed away suddenly and tragically. We continue to honor his memory by bringing beauty and bounty to his vacant lot.
